Rosalinde about her internship
She is 21 years old, is doing an internship at Oosterhoutvoorelkaar and they are very sorry that the internship is almost over. Rosalinde will start the HBO Social Work next year. She is passionate about volunteering and enjoys when she notices that she can transfer her enthusiasm to peers. In addition, she is just a very pleasant colleague to work with, so OVE will certainly miss her.
“I could never imagine volunteering before. It seemed quite dusty and boring”
Rosalinde knows how to tackle things and does not shy away from a task. But when she tells about the stories of young people who discover how much fun it is to do volunteer work, she radiates. “I could never imagine volunteering before. It seemed quite dusty and boring," she begins her story. In connection with her education, she ended up at OVE for her internship. “My view of volunteering has completely changed here. I discovered how nice it is when someone else is happy with what you do. And the nice thing is that I enjoy it myself and learn a lot from it. People are all different and share their story with me. You really start to see things in a different perspective.” Rosalinde is now trying to convey her enthusiasm to other young people. But how does she do that? “Many contacts arise through social media. It is important that you explain the benefits of volunteering. And I also notice that personal interest in the other person is also appreciated. I call them every now and then to ask how they are doing; not just with volunteering. And that gives me a lot of nice contacts.” Rosalind will come. Are you young, do you feel challenged and do you also want to do your internship at Oosterhoutvoorelkaar? Then contact us quickly!
Rene's story
Rene's story A few years ago, the “Giveaway Corner” started in Activities Center De Bunthoef. René: ”The Giveaway Corner was set up to give useful items a second chance. People who cannot easily buy something, regularly find something they need with us”. Together with his colleague Nel, René checks the equipment for usability. They see clothing, books, decoration and kitchen items, among other things. René is working on it every working day. “Early last year I was asked to tackle this. Initially I was working on it for a few hours a week, but now it is 5 days a week”. René is clear about his motivation: “It gives me satisfaction when I am doing something meaningful. For me it makes sense if I notice that I make others happy with what I do. Their enthusiasm motivates me to continue with this.” He hopes to be able to expand the “Giveaway Corner” in the future. “The space we have now is very tight.” It gives me satisfaction when I am doing something meaningful.
